Artist Statement for

Yolanda Barjoud

I like to recreate the beauty of nature on most of my paintings. Working with colour and atmosphere, I emphasize contrasts like the delicate surface of the rose with the hardness of the crystal vase; like the softness of the water with the roughness of the wood, trying to depict not only the surroundings but also the spirit of the place.

Yolanda Barjoud was born and raised in Colombia, South America where she studied art and decoration (1962-1964). All of her artistic skill has been self taught. In 1965, Yolanda moved to Miami, Florida with her parents and siblings. She has lived there ever since. Her love for nature, especially flowers, inspired most of her paintings and ceramics. Today Yolanda continues to express her love and passion in an ever-changing array of new artwork.
