ALBUFERA Natural Park

Situated in the northeast of the island in the Bay of Alcúdia, the Albufera Natural Park is the largest area of marshland in the Balearic Islands. Crossed by a network of ditches and canals, it was declared a National Park in 1.988.

The best time of year for this excursion is the Spring, when the weather is mild and the greatest variety of birds and animals can be found.

Route:
Access to the park is from the road between Alcúdia and C´an Picafort. The entrance is near the English Bridge and passes parallel to where the large canal meets the sea.

The Reception centre, with a wealth of information, is situated one kilometre from the entrance.

One short but spectacular alternative would be to follow a route in the surroundings of Sa Roca, crossing several canals and a forests of elm trees.

Approaching an artificial lagoon, you come to three observation points and a look-out post, which overlooks most of the park.
